Our ½ Standard Portuguese Laurel Tree is a stylish way to add height, greenery, and year-round interest to your garden. Standing at around 2m tall, it has a 1.3m clear stem topped with a 0.7m head of dense, glossy foliage – giving you height without taking up too much space at the base.
Portuguese Laurel (Prunus lusitanica) is known for its dark green leaves and refined, elegant look. In early summer, clusters of small white flowers may appear, followed by red berries that turn black and attract birds. Hardy and evergreen, it provides reliable colour and screening all year round.
The term “½ Standard” refers to the height of the clear stem. A ½ Standard tree has a shorter trunk with a lower crown compared to a full Standard tree, which usually has a 1.8m clear stem and a higher head. This makes ½ Standards ideal for patios, terraces, and smaller gardens, or for creating privacy above a fence without losing too much greenery at eye level.
