Bailcast CVS18 Universal Stretchy Driveshaft CV Joint Boot Kit Split
Bailcast CVS18 Universal Stretchy Driveshaft CV Joint Boot Kit Split
£22.99

The Universal CV Boot Kit (Split) provides an efficient and easy-to-install solution for replacing worn-out CV boots. Ideal for DIY mechanics, this kit eliminates the need to dismantle suspension or driveshaft components, saving time and effort. With superior flexibility and durability, the boot is resistant to oil, grease, abrasion, grit, extreme temperatures, and impact damage. It ensures long-lasting protection for CV joints on most cars, some 4x4s, and light commercial vehicles.

The kit includes a tongue-and-groove split boot that is glued together using the included rubber adhesive, creating a durable and reliable seal. Follow the step-by-step installation instructions for a smooth, hassle-free repair.

Kit Contains:

  • CV Boot
  • Grease Sachet
  • Small and Large Ear Clamps
  • Rubber Adhesive
  • Gloves

Key Features:

  • Universal Fit: Suitable for shafts (18-34mm), joints (60-116mm), and lengths (58-128mm)
  • Flexible & Durable: Resistant to oil, grease, abrasion, grit, and extreme conditions
  • Easy Installation: No need to dismantle suspension or driveshaft
  • DIY-Friendly: Step-by-step instructions included for seamless installation

Installation Instructions:

  • Ensure the vehicle is securely supported, following the manufacturer's guidelines.
  • Remove the road wheel.
  • Use the old boot as a reference to determine the correct cutting point on the new boot.
  • Remove the old boot and clips, and clean away grease or debris from the shaft and joint.

Important Tip: Avoid using WD-40 or similar products to clean the CV joint, as they leave a residue that negatively affects the new grease.

Boot Installation:

  • Practice fitting the joint faces together in small increments (1-2cm at a time), starting at the small end.
  • Stretch the small end of the boot around the shaft; the seam gap should not exceed 10mm.
  • Warm the boot slightly if it feels stiff (especially in cold temperatures).
  • Apply glue in 2cm sections, filling the groove and carefully joining the seam. Hold for approximately 45 seconds.
  • Repeat the gluing process until the entire seam is joined, ensuring the tongue and groove fit securely.
  • Run a bead of glue along the completed seam to fill any small gaps.

Final Steps:

  • Tear open the grease sachet and fill only the joint (not the boot). Excess grease can distort the boot during operation.
  • Slide the boot into position over the joint, ensuring no air is trapped.
  • Secure the boot with the provided ear clamps using ECP1 Ear Clamp Pliers. Tighten the clamp enough to prevent the boot from turning but not so tight that it damages the boot.
  • Reattach the hub and road wheel.

Pro Tip:

If the boot slides off during installation, ensure both the boot and joint are free of grease. Release trapped air to create a suction fit.

This Universal CV Boot Kit is the perfect solution for both DIY enthusiasts and professional mechanics, ensuring a strong, durable repair for your vehicle's CV joints.
