Iris laevigata 'Mottled Blue', commonly known as Japanese water iris, is a clump-forming perennial with upright, sword-shaped green leaves forming a low, arching mound. In late spring to early summer, it produces large, flat, showy flowers in soft blue with delicate mottled or speckled patterns, creating an attractive display in water margins or damp borders.
The flowers attract bees and other pollinators, giving the plant ecological value. Its moisture-loving habit makes it ideal for pond edges, boggy areas, or damp garden beds where early summer colour and delicate floral patterns are desired.
