Ajuga pyramidalis 'Metallica Crispa', commonly known as pyramidal bugle, is a compact alpine perennial prized for its distinctive, crinkled foliage with strong metallic bronze and purple tones. In late spring to early summer, it produces short spikes of deep blue flowers held just above the foliage, forming a dense, architectural mound.
The flowers provide an early nectar source for bees and other pollinating insects, making this plant ecologically valuable despite its small size. Its low-growing habit and striking leaf colour make it especially effective in rock gardens, gravel planting, and at the front of borders where close detail can be appreciated.
