Allium schoenoprasum, commonly known as chives, is a compact, clump-forming perennial with fine, hollow, grass-like green leaves that create a neat, upright habit. In late spring to early summer, rounded heads of soft purple-pink flowers appear on slender stems, adding gentle colour and structure above the foliage.
