Anemopsis californica, commonly known as yerba mansa, is a striking marginal perennial with aromatic, grey-green leaves that form dense clumps along wet ground and shallow water edges. In summer, it produces distinctive cone-shaped flower spikes surrounded by white petal-like bracts, creating an unusual and eye-catching display above the foliage.
This plant is well suited to naturalistic pond margins and wetland gardens, where it spreads slowly to form attractive colonies. It is valued for its architectural flowers, scented foliage, and ability to thrive in consistently moist or waterlogged conditions.
