Cyperus alternifolius, commonly known as umbrella palm or umbrella sedge, is a vigorous, clump-forming aquatic perennial with tall, erect green stems topped by radiating, umbrella-like whorls of narrow leaves. It produces small, inconspicuous greenish-brown flowers above the foliage in summer, adding subtle texture without showy blooms.
This cultivar is highly valued for waterside and pond planting, providing shelter for aquatic wildlife and creating bold architectural interest in marginal planting.
