Hydrocotyle vulgaris 'Nova Zelandiae' is a low-growing marginal and aquatic plant with rounded, bright green leaves held on creeping stems that spread steadily across damp soil or shallow water. Its neat, mat-forming habit makes it useful for softening pond edges, covering bare ground, and creating a natural transition between water and surrounding planting.
This plant has good ecological value, providing cover for aquatic invertebrates and helping to stabilise moist substrates. Its small, unobtrusive flowers are of little ornamental interest, but the foliage contributes to healthy pond margins and supports biodiversity in wet garden habitats.
