Renowned for his famous speeches his leadership helped get the nation through a time of great hardship. By his courage and vision he paved the way for post-war peace and freedom in western Europe.
Did you know that Winston Churchill as well as being an accomplished artist, he was the first prime minister to win a Nobel prize? Sometimes nicknamed the 'British Bulldog', Churchill served as prime minister for a second time in the 1950s. Over the course of his long career in Parliament he witnessed the reigns of six British monarchs: Victoria, Edward VII, George V, Edward VIII, George VI, and Elizabeth II.
