Iris louisiana, commonly known as Louisiana iris 'Arabian Bayou', is a clump-forming perennial with upright, sword-shaped green leaves that create strong vertical structure. In late spring to early summer it produces large, velvety flowers in deep maroon to rich red-purple tones, often accented with subtle yellow markings at the throat.
This cultivar is valued for its dramatic colouring and its contribution to wildlife-friendly pond and wetland planting. Its robust growth and preference for consistently moist conditions make it particularly suitable for pond margins, bog gardens, and shallow water, where it adds both architectural form and seasonal colour.
