Iris pseudacorus, commonly known as yellow flag iris, is a robust, rhizomatous perennial with tall, sword-shaped green leaves forming dense, upright clumps. In early to mid summer it produces large, bright yellow flowers with subtle brown or purple markings, creating a bold and highly visible display along pond margins and wet ground.
This species is valuable for wildlife, providing shelter and habitat for aquatic insects and other pond-edge species. Its strong growth and tolerance of waterlogged soils and shallow water make it ideal for naturalistic pond margins, wetlands, and larger water features.
