Petasites japonicus, commonly known as variegated giant butterbur, is a bold perennial with large, rounded leaves edged in creamy white, forming a striking umbrella-like canopy over fleshy stems. In early spring, it produces dense clusters of small, creamy-white flowers that emerge just above the foliage, adding seasonal interest before the leaves reach full size.
